In 1991, the Fiscal Year and Annual Meeting dates were changed...
“For some years the church has struggled with divergent church calendars, including a fiscal year that was the same as the calendar year, a church year that runs from September to June, employee contracts that vary in dates, committee appointments that take effect after an annual meeting in March, and the annual meeting held three months after the fiscal year begins. This proposal allows for a fiscal year that is more in keeping with the church calendar, and for an annual meeting held prior to the beginning of the fiscal year. In addition employee contracts would be adjusted to commence with the fiscal year, and committee appointments would occur for a complete church calendar [program] year. If approved, these amendments would provide for much greater facility in church planning and operating in the future.” - from Recommendation to the Parish from the Parish Committee, 1991 Warrant
The old arrangement clearly was broken and needed fixing!
