PHAN QUOTES

PHAN QUOTES

"We'll be back in fifteen minutes" -Trey Anastasio

"Dude, they just played Terrapin Station the other night, and you're complaining that they're not playing Big Black Furry Creature From Mars!!!" -Chris Kuroda

These are quotes I have compiled over the years from phans. I am leaving them all as anonymous, since I don't know the names of the people who said most of them anyway. But the names aren't important, it's the great stuff that has been said. These great lines come from phans from all over: at shows, e mail, the newsgroup, conversations, etc., and are personally guaranteed to bring a smile to all who read them. And of course, this list will always continue to grow.
Enjoy!

"Fishman graduated from high school!?!."
-Vernon Downs Vernon, NY

"An Also Sprach Zarathustra without Chris Kuroda is like a grilled cheese sandwich without the cheese."
-CK5

"Isn't it great that we exsist in a culture where all we have to do in the subject of our e-mails is type a date, and we all know exactly what the hell we're talking about."
-rec.music.phish

"Oh my god, they were...I mean, that show was...I felt like I...Oh forget it, you guys were there too."
-Civic Center Hartford, CT

"You saw that too right? Whew, just checking."
-Civic Arena Pittsburgh, PA

"So, you know...it started out a normal day, me buying the traditional grilled cheese..."
-Clifford Ball Plattsburgh, NY

"Hamburgers for sale here, now with free catsup!"
-Clifford Ball Plattsburgh, NY

"Money and sexual favors for your extraaaa!"
-Boston Garden Boston, MA
(sorry, but that one still grabs my curiosity to this day, probably because I didn't have an extra ;) )

"How would I describe a Phish concert? It's like this revolving door of energy. The phans start out with it, in turn, the band feeds off of that. The band then sends the energy back into the crowd plus some, the crowd then responds. My energy bounces off the girl in section 305 row 8 seat 4, and her energy is sent to the guy next to her, and his energy feeds to ten others, and then back to the band, and the good vibes just keep circulating and circulating to everybody at all times, and it just keeps growing and growing and getting stronger and stronger...whoa, I'm getting a little lightheaded."
-Sugarbush Fayston, VT

"Man, I wish, I just wish I could meet that first person who made the comparison of Phish to the Dead."
-US Air Arena Landover, MD

"Damn, I could have sworn that for the last 10 minutes they were jamming Maze, but I just remembered that that was last set."
-Great Woods Mansfield, MA

". . . when the band comes out of the jam back into the Antelope tune and sets the gearshift. It's like a roadtrip . . . that part of the roadtrip where you are suddenly very sure that you are totally lost (and I have one of those moments just about every roadtrip I take). It can last seconds or minutes or hours but there's always that moment when you turn the corner and see something you know you should see, a familiar landmark, and you know that you are not lost at all and have been right on course the whole time and you feel this complete sense of relief and joy at knowing right where you are and feeling safe in knowing that you'll make your destination okay."
-rec.music.phish

"I'm sitting here finishing up work for another day, and I have the 4/5/90 show playing for a little ear candy. I was looking at the j card , and I noticed that on this tape, two CLASSIC Phish tunes, Tweezer and Cavern, were played for the first time before a live audience! Imagine how cool it would've been to be in the crowd that night and to hear those songs for the first time ever. There's no way you could've predicted that they'd go on to be such staples in Phish shows, but I'm sure there are some phans from that night who remember, and can honestly say they were there when Phish presented Tweezer and Cavern to the world.
-E Mail

"May the phorce be with you"
-E Mail

"Being a sports commentator must be the best job, you get to just sit around and talk squak all day about sports. It's kind of like the way we talk about Phish. This summer at the Went, I'm gonna do nothing but talk squak."
-Party Conversation

"I think most of the growth has been word of mouth. I tell two friends, and they tell 2 friends, and so on, and so on. We do this not to make the band rich or bigger than they 'need' to be, but because we love so much about them that we can't help but to tell people we care about, people who have good taste and open minds. And they can't help doing the same."
-rec.music.phish

"I'd like to hear/see Phish jam with Ultraman and the Green Lantern. They can really jam."
-rec.music.phish

"Let me get this straight...you traded with a guy named SNORF !?"
-rec.music.phish

"Tomorrow this place is going to be a desolate wasteland of schwag."
-Great Went Limestone, ME

"I've been in this town for over fifteen years, and the traffic has never been this bad, not even for the annual Potato Blossom Festival."
-Great Went Limestone, ME

"It's wierd. After a Phish show, the crowd is so silent. There's really nothing you can do except look at your friends, bask in the aftetrglow, and just say, "Wow!" Everyone will take turns saying it, but that's all anyone can manage to get out."
-Civic Center Providence, RI

"Set your expectations as high as you want, they'll beat 'em anyway."
-E Mail

"People say I'm crazy driving 7 hours to go see a Phish show. But if I didn't, I'd look at the set list the next day and think that I was crazy NOT driving 7 hours to go see the show."
-Centrum Worcrester, MA

"It's just not fair that those four guys have the power and ability to take us on this emotional roller coaster ride night in and night out, every time."
-Centrum Worcester, MA

"They are not human. I'm serious, they can not be stopped."
-Civic Center Hartford, CT

"Happy New Year, get out."
-(Security) Madison Square Garden New York City, NY

"I'd like to beat one of 'em over the head with my nightstick."
-(Cop 'whispering' to another cop) Madison Square Garden New York City, NY
