The Internal Auditing World Wide Web (IAWWW) was conceived,
at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth College by John
K. Peterson, as a production prototype demonstration project.
The hope was that the IAWWW would be able to act as a warehouse
of information and knowledge pertaining to the Internal Auditing
Profession and Functions across all associations, industries and
countries.
The purpose of the IAWWW is to provide:
- On-line and real-time international communications
- Real-time help and access
- Ordered and focused access to the Internet
- Dedicated capability for internal auditors
- Facilitated professional exchanges without physical boundaries
- An industry-specific audit repository
- Non-filtered discussions and electronic conferences
- Access to list of professional peers
